Sg Lembing: Lombong Bijih Timah

Pekan lama pekan cina.

Booking.com: Berhati-Hati Kes Seumpamanya

Careful when dealing online. Ditulis pada 30.12.2015.

Kami bercuti ke Putrajaya 21hb Dec yang lepas. My wife booked a room at JW Marriott through boking.com.

Malangnya bila check in di JW Marriott, Putrajaya...,

Penang Street Art: Aktiviti Cuti Sekolah

If you read english and not Bahasa Melayu, you might want to go here:

http://farizghazali.blogspot.my/2015/07/penang-street-art.html

Penang Street Art. Kat Armenian Street.

Hotel, batik shop, cenderahati dll.

2. Pergi awal. Parking susah. Parking rate kat lapangan parking persendirian adalah RM5 sekali masuk. Parking tepi jalan kena pakai kupon kot.

3. Ada map percuma. Pandang-pandang kedai dan gerai dan tapak jualan cenderahati. Diorang boleh bagi map percuma. Tapi aku dapat map lama hari tu. Bila aku mintak mamat ni tengokkan baru dia perasan map tu map lama.

4. Sewa beca. Rate dalam RM35 satu jam. Sebab tempat artnya agak bersepah dan bukan setempat, apek beca lagi fasih. Kuranglah masa terbuang kerana terkial-kial baca map. Basikal dalam RM8 dan yang berbakul depan dalam RM10. Ah-so yang aku sewa tu kasik pakai sampai jam 2 atau 3 katanya. 3 - 4 jam jugak la. Aku berbasikal sementara anak dan isteri berbeca.

Kepelbagaian basikal.

Bukan selfie, bukan membaca - mengambil gambar.

5. Beca atau basikal custom made ni agak mahal. RM80 for two hours. Ada yang kecik sikit RM60 for two hours. Mahal ! Tapi memandangkan bende ni unik dan ramai keluarga ambik, kena lah book awal. Call atau datang awal. By the time kami nak cari, dah jam 11 pagi, dah habis.

6. Bawak air meneral. Camera make sure charged full.

7. Ada masjid berdekatan untuk solat.

8. Selamat berchuti !

sekian.

Penang Street Art

A good tourist spot for art lovers with children who doesn't mind some hot sun and sweating. And if you like texture of rotting woods, moss, decaying walls and plants growing in between wall cracks. I can get this around my housing area but we thought travelling some 400 kilometers away would be much more fun.

Basic Where ?

Penang is situated north of Malaysia, some 400km away form KL. It is a popular tourist attraction. The street art thingy is in town. Find Armenian Street or Lebuh Acheh. I am not sure about public transport, i took the car into town. A Sunday on a long national holiday, one would expect the parking to be full. I was there at 10am and found myself a parking spot in one of the 'per entry' space. RM5 per entry.

Basic What Is This ?

Street art here means paintings on walls. NO street performer, NO unicycle juggling act, NO mime, NO man paint themselves and stays still as if a statute and NO drawings on the pavement. Just paintings on walls.

Firstly get a map. You can get them free from almost any tourist-ly shop. Then figure out where you are and where you are going next.
Then you'll probably get lost. So you ask the china-man in front of his shop for help. He'll then say "Eh, Ooo.. this one wrong map."

Then he gives you another one. Then you decide to take the beca because it all looks complicated. Yes, rent a beca (trishaw) because the beca man will bring you to all the paintings.

Where ?
Unlike Malacca, the whole street, the whole area is made for tourist. Its nice and selfie friendly all the way. Here in Penang, the paintings are scattered, faded and unmarked. So, the beca man can be a good tour guide. At RM35 per hour (for Malaysians) its worth it.

A lot of unique customise bike. Rental would be between RM 60 to RM 80 for 2 hours.

My bike cost RM10 per hour. Got bakul infront ma.

RM 80 for 2 hours. I rented a Saga for RM 90 per day. But you really can't compare. Come a day earlier for advance booking. Those expensive bikes would be unavailable by 10:30 am or so. I have no relation to Wong.

This popular painting you get on t-shirts and notebooks and all is actually a worn off painting with too many people taking pictures.

T-Shirts. Buy one. Support local industry. You wouldn't want to see Banglas mending tourist attraction 'local' shops right? Soon mat salleh will come to Malaysia to see paintings made by mat sallehs and stalls mended by Bangladeshis. Very soon.

Oh Wow !! Zoo Negara.

Jap. Intro: Kalau tuan surf blog ni nak tau berbaloi tak pergi Zoo bawak anak-anak, jawapannya berbaloi. Pergi je la.

1. I've been to the zoo around 8 times since 1999. Before that I went as a boy. I like the Zoo. But the last time I was here was in 2010 (?) And this entry will not talk about the animals.

2. The parking space is now hot. Gone are the big shady trees.

Zaganos first visit to the Zoo.

Did they change the font signage?

3. Entrance fee is reasonable. Could go higher with foreign tourist. Love it free entrance for the disabled. And maybe the can start earlier at 8 am?

4. For the pandas, they charge an extra RM50 per person.

5. The National Zoo made a lot of improvement to their look. Signages and corporate look was upgraded.

6. And they have 2 more 'per entry' fee (in-apps-purchase if you like) inside the Zoo. One with the kids section and another with the 6D cinema.

Buy at any grocery shop for 20 sen a piece, here it's RM1.30. A 500% mark up ?

7. If you are a family with running age children, bring handyplus / bandage / band aid. And please get them to wear proper shoes. Melecet susah.

8. Bring a lot of water. 3 litres didn't last long. Can drinks are sold at RM4.50 each compare to RM2.00 outside.

9. And you would like to know where's the toilets are. In case your children needs to go. The toilets are clean and airy btw.

10. Apart from the new signages, the Zoo have more souvernir shops and eatery places all over. New places are being built. Some new cages, some improved and renovated cages, some improved interiors for the animals. New pavements here and there. Kudos.

The older version is a modified bus. The diesel engines were loud.

11. The trams are new. RM 5 for adults and RM 3 for children. But now the stops are limited to only one place. A little bit inconvenient. Zoo Negara should have bicycles rented out. That would be fun.

12. Along the way there's aircond huts like this. Should it be too hot for the children. Although the whole Zoo is shady, this is a good idea. The non-smoking hut smells of smoke though.

13. They offer nasi goreng and such in the menu.

An old building Akuarium Tunku Abdul Rahman.
Please do not do away with the logo.
14. I'm not sure if the aquarium is new, but it's my first time there. Nothing near aquaria but good enough. Thumbs up.

Interior is well planned and decorated.

An old building with retro style tiling. Today, the tiles are 2 feet square each.
Orang dulu rajin sikit kot..?

Didn't go in there.

Went in the Butterfly garden. Nice.

15. The butterfly garden is cool. You get to see butterflies and insects. And huge foreign cockroaches. And a few dead butterflies lying on the ground.

16. And the leopard cage has a roof with plants growing on it.

Rumah Leopard.

And I just pass through this building.
 17. The amphitheater has shows starts at 11 and 3 daily. I know you've seen this before - sea lions and bird show. Still it's fun. The last time I was here was on a school holiday, the seats are filled 10 minutes before the show.

Is it a sea lion or a seal ?

The huts at the 'Savanah Walk'

18. And this entry ends here.
